Hello! The DR Team is doing great, we have had a few very full days since our last post. On Sunday we finished up our ministry in Don Gregorio. Our students spent the morning playing with children at an Awana activity, sharing the love of Jesus in a fun and tangible way! Kids sang, played competitive games, did crafts and heard the story of Jesus calming the storm. The smiles and laughter of the children and our students were contagious! After evening worship, we had a celebration with a family that graciously hosted our meals. Monday and Tuesday we transitioned over to the city of San Cristobal to work alongside an active church. We have painted inside and out, and carried and moved bricks for construction. We have been blessed and encouraged by our new friends, watching their dedication and tireless efforts in their community. God is doing some amazing work, both here and in our lives as well. Tomorrow we finish up our projects and we will spend some more time with the youth. Quest Celebration Please join the Quest 15 Teams for a time of report and sharing about the Dominican Republic, When: Saturday, February 22, 2014 Where: Baptist Convention of New England Please R.S.V.P. by Thursday, February 20, 2014 to [email protected] with your name and the number of adults and children along with the name of the Quest member you are associated with . Immediate family, mentors, youth leaders and pastors are invited to attend. Happy valentine's day! Or as we now call it: día de la amistad y el amor (day of friendship and love)! We got to celebrate friendship and love by serving alongside our Dominican brothers and sisters to help clear a lot the church just purchased. Who knew a great way to live out love and friendship is by pulling weeds and clearing brush and trash? As we worked, we were reminded of our camp theme, "Good Dirt"-- how God prepares our hearts to produce good fruit. As a few of us were struggling to uproot a stubborn tree stump, we saw a living example of how rooted we should be in Christ. And our study on Ephesians today reminded us about being grounded and rooted in Christ's love too! We're sensing a pattern... We finished out the day with an outdoor concert where we got to celebrate and share God's love through song and His Word. The fun continues with children's ministry, more work in the lot, prayer walking, youth group and whatever else is in store! Hasta mañana! ¡Saludos de Villa Mella! Greetings from Villa Mella! Our team arrived early this morning, and we've now had a few hours to rest and relax. After an amazing Dominican lunch of rice and beans, chicken and fresh veggies, we're getting set to go out with our local friends. All are well and enjoying the warm sun and fresh breeze! We're practicing a few songs in Spanish, and excited to head out! DR team meets together Wed afternoon to get ready for a late night flight south.
