I can't fully explain what an amazing experience quest was! God taught me so much on the trip and gave me awesome new spiritual leaders and friends! The contentment of the people in the DR is something that really struck my heart. I feel that God has been pushing me towards that attitude of gratefulness and contentment, which is something I struggle with. God also showed me his amazing power in timing, how he worked in letting us build the pavilion. It was awesome to go somewhere for the sole purpose of serving God and I am extremely grateful for the experience!
The Quest 17 trip was an amazing experience that I will never forget. God used this chance of a lifetime to open up my eyes and to show me his love and his grace. The people in the DR were truly inspiring. They had little but were willing to give so much to people that had met that very day. Their will and enthusiasm to praise the Lord and spread his word blew my mind, and gave me the personal challenge of rededicating my life to Christ.
Families, mentors, youthleaders and pastors please RSVP for Saturday's celebration. Name and count to [email protected]. We will order food tomorrow.
Benediciones from the DR! After two fiery Sunday sermons, we began our week with a visit to a Christian school just outside the city. The kids currently eat lunch in their classrooms, so we worked on the first stages of a pavilion that will enable the teachers to spend more time teaching and less time cleaning up after mealtimes. Digging holes, sinking posts and mixing and pouring concrete made for a sweaty but satisfying morning. Monday afternoon we paid a visit to encourage local missionary Ina and hear about what Christ is doing in the lives of women from a local village. We had a chance to see the crafts sewn by the women and to support their small business by buying a few souvenirs. Best of all, we had great company and an inspiring conversation about the miracles that can happen when we choose to say, "Yes, Lord." We spent Tuesday pre-assembling the tin roof for the pavilion. After a lot of sawing, measuring, drilling and hammering we loaded the sections onto a truck in preparation for more construction work at the school tomorrow. We are looking forward to hearing more about the ministry there, to seeing the pavilion come together, and to serving as tools in the hands of a Creator who always has a blueprint greater than we can see on our own.
Parents, youthleaders, mentors and pastors please RSVP for Saturday's return Celebration. The celebration begins at 11:30 and will conclude by 2:00. A lite lunch will be provided.

DR team is doing great and amazed at what God is doing. Friday we were able to go to a local Christian school to play, sing songs and share stories. We continued by prayerwalking the neighborhood (La Caleta) and focusing on building relationships or continuing to build upon the friendships already begun by members of the church. God floored us with a few of the conversations we were able to have with others as we saw how the gospel cuts through language and culture. When we read Ephesians 2 yesterday, students were shocked at how it spoke directly to a conversation with a particular family, went back and had an unbelievable time of opening up the Scriptures (in Spanish) to discover the meaning and power of the gospel! We continue to be in awe of the God of amor as shown in his sacrificial love! Ready to transition to more active work (outside) these next few days. LOVE, Q17DR P.s. Below are some pictures of kids from a baseball clinic we got to visit and share with Buenos dias from the DR! We are getting ready for a full day-- thankful for health and energy and praying for opportunities to use those to the fullest! Celebrating the Ben the birthday boy with a reusable cake made of cement and nails! So resourceful! Not very yummy but so resourceful! LOL
DR team has landed, rested, had brief orientations and spent the afternoon prayerwalking, telling children's stories at a preschool, and spending 2.5 hours in traffic! God has been good as we've been challenged from James 1 this morning and stepping out of our comfort zones.
We've been enjoying the warmth- the weather but mostly the people and the incredible hospitality. Internet is VERY spotty but we will try to post pics soon! |
