We began our morning back at TJ's house for another training session; this teaching time has proved to be a real blessing for our group, challenging and refining our understanding of what it looks like to live on mission.
The team was then sent back out to survey Shettleston. As Claire will be settling in this neighborhood, she's been praying for what are referred to as "gatekeepers". Gatekeepers are those that might be willing to partner with her in ministry as she works to help establish a church in this part of Glasgow. Several of our Questies were able to uncover such individuals by the conversations they engaged in. At the end of the afternoon, we as a team had the opportunity to pray for Mary -- one of the crossing guards that works in the area.
In the evening, the team was split into two groups for some babysitting. Both TJ and Patrick were able to take their wives on a proper date while we spent time making charm bracelets and fighting nerf wars!
Tuesday -
Today looked a bit different for us; we began with our usual training time, but then were given the opportunity to help a local church with their community clean-up. We spent the afternoon in the south side of Glasgow - in a neighborhood called Pollokshaws - working with ministry leaders at Refuge. Refuge is the church Patrick and his wife Erin have been partnering with for the last several months.
Earlier this evening the team attended a youth club hosted by a church in the neighborhood of Whiteinch. As this is a group that Q19 worked with, it was good to see some familiar faces and reconnect with friends made last year! We swapped stories over a home-cooked meal and spent the remainder of our time together playing games.
Tomorrow is our last training/ministry day -- pray for a strong finish!
