It is our last full day in the Dominican Republic! We have been serving with Ina this week and today's our free day! We first visited the Colonial Zone and went souvenir shopping in the area. After that, we spent a few hours at the beach before heading to our last dinner in the DR. We were able to experience so many different parts of Dominican culture today and while we don't want to say goodbye, we are looking forward to seeing our families on Saturday! Thank you for the prayers and God Bless You!
After getting to visit one of the people Pastor Alberto shepherds who works at the San Francisco Giant’s training facility and seeing some of their practice early in the morning, the team headed out to a day of Baseball and evangelism. Felix is a friend of Alberto who coaches baseball as a way to reach young men. The team got to play baseball against Felix’s students and let us just say Dominican students are really awesome players. Quest students then got to share testimonies and plant a seed of the gospel in the lives of the young players. We also prayed for Felix and other coaches who have been serving their communities. The team then headed back to our home base where we finished some organizational and improvement tasks we had been working on this week. We feel grateful for all God has done already and look forward to what He may do tomorrow as we start to wrap up the week.
How wonderful it is to see the faithfulness of God’s people all around the world! Pastor Alberto has been faithfully serving multiple communities in the DR with his family for over a decade. Today, after finishing up more fences for gardens in the community of Cercadillo, the team had the blessing of serving alongside pastor Alberto in the construction of a house by assisting workers in a variety of ways. Although most tasks were new to most of our students, they learned quickly and worked arduously. We then headed to the base to help with a few other preparations for the evangelistic efforts the local team is doing in the communities and for a time of worship and reflection. Pastor Alberto prayed today that the we would see more young people committed to following Jesus and being His hands and feet to the world. As we head into the second half of our time here we pray that the Lord will use every act of service to shape us into people who are more like Jesus and to transform the hearts of those we have met and served along the way. Thank you for your continued prayers!!
Today was a day full of blessings! We were blessed to serve two different communities, Vietnan and Cercadillo. The team built fences around gardens in the communities while some of our local partners gave out seeds and preached the gospel to the people of the community. We also had the joy of playing games with the kids, praying for them, and sharing the joy of Jesus with them. Students also got to try wonderful local food for dinner. As you continue to pray for us, pray that we would see much fruit being borne in these communities; not just physical fruit but, most importantly, spiritual fruit. Pray also that the seeds the students planted on the lives of the kids may grow into a personal relationship with Christ. Thank you all for your prayers! More updates coming soon!
Today we were blessed to join “Iglesia Ciudad da Gracia” (Grace City Church) for worship. We experienced how big our God is and how far out His Kingdom expands into all tribes, tongues and nations. We also got to prepare crafts, activities, and materials for the work we will be doing with two different communities tomorrow. Students met pastor Alberto and his family, who’ve been faithfully serving the Lord in the DR for decades and have helped past Quest teams. We are excited for our work tomorrow and continue to trust God’s goodness to guide us and strengthen us as we work to be the hands and feet of Jesus serving the people of the DR. Thank you for your prayers.
After a little delay on our flight to the DR, we’ve arrived safe and sound. Headed to meet Ina, the missionary who will be guiding us through our serving here this week. Students will meet Ina for the first time, we will eat together, learn about the work we’ll be doing here this week, and hopefully meet some of the students we will be serving this week. More updates to come. Thank you for your prayers!
We left Rice Lodge at 3AM, checked in at the airport, now we are headed to Newark for our connecting flight. Excited for what God will do in and through the lives of our students in the DR. Pray for safe travels and no delays. More updates coming once we are get there.
