After a great week of serving and fellowship, we spent the day wrapping up our time here in Ponce. This morning, we cleaned up from our big painting project this week, finished the other rooms, and some of us went to help do some lawn work in the neighborhood. We then went out into the community, having conversations and handing out tracks to those around us. This evening, we had a great time of fellowship with our group and our host families, doing some shopping, sightseeing, having a meal together, and saying our goodbyes. We are so thankful for all of the opportunities God has given us this week. We will see you at the celebration! ~Team Red
We look forward to seeing families on Saturday, July 10th for the Quest 22 Celebration, where there will be a brief ceremony and light refreshments! The Celebration will start at 11:15 and will be held at The Church on Seven Hills 475 Burncoat St. Worcester, MA.
Today the Humacao team finished the second layer of sealer and began working with a Pastor Israel by cleaning and painting a local Christian elementary school building. The Guaynabo team finished working Cinto’s house and were able to do the finishing touches like windows, door and etc.
Today in Ponce we continued with our painting project at the local church, finishing up the kitchen/dining area and moving onto priming/prepping the sanctuary to be painted next. After lunch, we wrapped up painting for the day and we had the chance to go into the community. We went door to door to meet members of the community at their homes and had the chance to give them packets of rice and beans that they can make in case of emergencies for the hurricane season this year. We had the chance to talk and pray with them as well. Pray along with us for this community, their health and safety, and for them to connect with this local church.
After yesterday’s work of power washing and sealer, we went back to Humacao to put sealer on the two roofs we were working on . We were able to go to a third location to power wash and put sealer on as well. We had the opportunity to give out food to the community and pray for them as well. In Guaynabo, we put up the last window and finished the back of the house. We put in tin on the roof and began adding the trim.
In Guaynabo, our two teams have been split into three groups for this week to work on multiple projects. Today, two of the groups were in Humacao helping with two different structures and power washing roofs to get them ready to put on sealer. They had the opportunity to speak with the home owners, who glorified Christ and His kingdom! The other group headed up to a local Guaynabo neighborhood to continue working on a house Send Relief has been helping with. We saw a lot of animals from chickens to dogs to lizards! We also went out to the community to prayer walk and ask for the Lord’s protection over the families that live there. ~Team Blue and White
Over in Ponce, we are going to be working at the local church we attended on Sunday. The pastor of the church and his wonderful family are also co-hosting us along with the SendRelief organization. We started the morning off getting the sanctuary and other rooms in the church prepped for a big painting project this week. After lunch, we painted a whole lot! We will be working on getting as much of the church painted as we can while we are here, along with some other opportunities to serve. Being able to work on this project all together has been a unique opportunity for great conversations amongst each other and those who are helping us from the community! Ended the day with a great dinner with our hosts! ~Team Red Due to ongoing capacity limits in the Guaynabo community, church looked a bit different for the Blue and White teams. Rather than attending a local Sunday gathering, the group ventured out into a national rainforest for a time of worship and Bible study. In the afternoon, we traveled to the city of San Juan to do some sight-seeing. The team was able to explore the old city streets and El Morro, a fortress built in the 1700s. We are gearing up for today - our first day at the work-sites we'll be assigned to for the rest of the week. Be praying for safety, energy and opportunities to engage with those around us!
We started our morning at the local church and got to hear God's Word from Josh and meet some of the members. After that we headed west to sightsee at a popular lighthouse landmark. We are thankful for worship, team bonding, meeting new people, and breathtaking views! We will be up early tomorrow, ready to serve! ~Team Red
After a long day of travel, we arrived safely in Puerto Rico! Team Blue and White headed to Guaynabo, while Team Red headed to Ponce. These are the cities and communities we will be serving this week. Thank you for your prayers! Our SendRelief hosts have been so kind and we are excited to see what God has in store for us all this week! We will post updates from each team when WiFi and time allows :) Buenas Noches!
The Q22 team are all together at the hotel and will be heading to the airport in the morning. We spent the night in a time of fellowship, having time to catch up, pack the collected items (thank you for those who helped with this), had dinner as a full team, and now getting some rest for a big travel day ahead tomorrow. Pray for us as we go! We will update the blog when we are all settled in PR. |
