Howzit?
We've had an exciting couple of days. On Monday, we visited Hillcrest AIDS Respite center. We spent time touring the facility and learning about the different ways that this organization reaches out to the community. This is a very interesting organization that works with people to relieve the affects that AIDS has on the community. After the tour we spent some of our free time by visiting a Zulu cultural experience and going on a "game ride" also known as...a safari. Seeing God's creation and the animals are a wonderful treat that everyone enjoyed. In the evening, we spent some time fellowshipping with friends and planning for today. Today was a day packed with ministry and fun. After meeting with the interns at Westville Baptist Church for a planning meeting, we left for the beach and souvenir shopping. We went directly to an elementary school to assist a ministry with after school homework help. The team really enjoyed the time that we spent there as they helped several children work through their homework assignments. After homework club, we traveled to a neighborhood where many Quest teams have travelled before. The guys on the team played a few games of basketball and shared their testimonies. Meanwhile, the ladies of the team ministered to a group of young boys. In the evening, Quest joined Westville Baptist for their youth group. It was a great night of fellowship. Quest Celebration Please join the Quest 15 Teams for a time of report and sharing about the Dominican Republic, When: Saturday, February 22, 2014 Where: Baptist Convention of New England Please R.S.V.P. by Thursday, February 20, 2014 to [email protected] with your name and the number of adults and children along with the name of the Quest member you are associated with. Immediate family, mentors, youth leaders and pastors are invited to attend. Hi all! Hi all! Friday was packed with a beautiful ride up to Ndaya Primary school. We spent time talking with school children and were encouraged by the teaching staff. Quest members were able to love on children who only spent half a day in school because of no running water. Friday night was spent with youth members of Berackha Evengelical, playing games, sharing testimonies, small group dissucssion time. Saturday was another lovely drive to Gospel Power Church, ministering to about 50 children, and a group of young adults. Gospel Power Church is run by pastor Eugene who's is a missionary from Taiwan working with the Zulu community. Sat night was filled with tons of fellowship the South African Indian (SAI) culture way. The students experienced SAI hospitality and were fed Bunnies for dinner (ask the Questies when you see them face to face). This morning the team split in to two groups. Each team went to two different SAI churches, to share testimonies, lead bible studies, work with children, and be encouraged by the people. After church the two teams regrouped and headed to Westville. On the way to Westville the kids stopped at a friends house to experience the groups first braii which is a cookout meat feast. After fellowshipping with new friends we headed to Westville Baptist Churh for evening worship. It was great to connect with old friends and to make new friends as well. We have settled into Barry and Deb's house and we are looking forward to an awesome day tomorrow. Good evening! Heard from the team today. They have arrived and are settled in on the South Coast. No flight issues and all luggage made it. They have very limited internet access while in the Sourh Coast. They will post an update when they can. Good morning! South Africa team has started our journey. Here we are in Boston getting ready to board our first flight. We're excited and looking forward to what God is doing on this trip. Prayers appreciated. We will try to post when we land in Durban.
