On our first day in country we traveled from Santo Domingo to Barahona - about a four hour drive - near the border of Haiti. We got to see a little of the DR's beauty in nature and in its people. We stopped in a local community and got to visit the school, church, and some homes. Many of our students made connections with children we will be working with later in the week.
Later, we were able to take part in a gathering of local university students who had been funded by Children of the Nations. We heard some of their testimonies, saw some traditional dances, taught them an American game, and enjoyed the celebration with food, music, and laughter.
Throughout the day we focused on our devotional passage, James 1. We are asking God to reveal Himself as we pray boldly, become doers of the Word, and act in faith, despite the obstacles that might surface during QUEST.
We miss and love you all. Please continue to pray for our time in country as we attempt to be God's hands and feet.
