Thursday was our longest day of ministry. The day took place in three parts.
The morning was our final day of Bible club at the school. Questies and their translators have served well, encouraging the children in each age group. The story today was about Jesus walking on the water. At the end of each session they circled the children and prayed for the school year ahead of them. The team finished strong!
After lunch, at the local restaurant we visited Tuesday, we were off to the University of Panama.
We met students studying English and then walked to a nearby Subway for the next two hours. The team sat with students to practice conversational English. Our local contacts shared sandwiches, chips, cookies and drinks. The place was buzzing with stories and questions. At several points students shifted to talk with new students. It was awesome to hear Questies share why they were in Panama, parts of their story, what they believe, and hobbies.
Before dinner we found the PANAMA sign along the seawall for a few photos. We celebrated one of our team's birthdays with a cake.
The final ministry of the day involved serving alongside "Ellie" and her friends who homeless and others on the street. Meeting outside the police station we walked, shared a bag of food and prayed with most. Ellie and her team serve the downtown area weekly and most of those we met greeted Ellie warmly and vice versa.
There are stories to share but best to talk directly with a Questie. This was a challenging time but we learned a great deal about this type ministry.
Back at the hotel we debriefed our day. Long but great day to wrap up our time of specific ministry.
Friday is COVID testing to return to the US and beach day.
